The ability to accurately measure the flow of a liquid through a line is the key to many specific applications. From beer brewing to semiconductor processing, a flowmeter provides the most efficient way to measure the amount of a fluid passing through a line. While different types of flowmeters operate differently, they’re all designed to meet the same goal—measuring the volume or mass of the flow to ensure quality and consistency. Learn more about the flowmeters ChemTec offers and how to choose the best one for your desired application.
Operating an MAO Series Flowmeter
The MAO series flowmeters provide three types of outputs: voltage, pulse, and current loop. This output is converted by the flowmeter’s transducer, which senses the piston displacement whenever fluid flows through the unit. The best MAO series flowmeter for your purposes will depend on the type of liquid being transmitted through the line and the type of output you need.
MAO Series
ChemTec’s MAO Series is designed to measure the flows of corrosive and non-corrosive liquids. Featuring a bearing-free design with no rotating internals and in-line metering, the MAO Series can produce analog, digital, or current loop outputs. Choose from among Teflon, brass, or 316 stainless steel as your materials.
Applications include:
- Wet benches
- Cooling systems
- Corrosive chemical dispensing
- Chemical/Petrochemical
- Aerospace
- Natural Gas
- Oil & Gas Production
- Wastewater Treatment
- Pulp & Paper
- Nuclear
With the Teflon components and bearing-free design, this series is sturdy enough to tackle whatever you throw at (or allow to flow through) it.
What Else to Know About MAO Series Flowmeters
The MAO series has an operating temperature range of 0 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit, with a media temperature range of 0 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
To install, place the flow meter upstream from the control valve. It’s often a good idea to install a filter ahead of the flowmeter to remove any particles that may be present in the stream. Don’t place the MAO flowmeter near ferrous material or strong electro-magnetic fields, as this can negatively impact its function. By using straight lengths of line both upstream and downstream, you can avoid erroneous readings.
