ChemTec’s excess flow valves are commonly used on gas distribution lines to reduce the risk of gas escaping into the atmosphere. While their primary function is as a mechanical safety device, employing an excess flow valve also contributes to eco-friendly practices. How Does An Excess Flow Valve Work?

Excess flow valves are activated by a significant pressure drop as a result of a line rupture. In the event of a broken pipe or other issue, the valve will restrict flow or automatically shut off flow to prevent leaks. 

They are commonly used on industrial plant lines for CNG delivery, hydraulic systems, gas distribution systems, gas analyzers, and more. ChemTec’s excess flow valves handle volatile and non-volatile gases and liquids like natural gas, ammonia, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen, to name a few. They can be field-adjustable or set to shut off flow at a desired point.

When the excess flow valve does reach the end of its lifecycle, the raw materials can be recycled and remanufactured endlessly.
