ChemTec’s versatile flow switches can be found in a variety of applications where the system’s integrity is a priority. Flow switches help maintain optimal flow rates. Built to protect equipment from damage caused by improper flow rates, flow monitors are a crucial component in any application where flow is present.

Flow switches operate by monitoring the flow of liquid or gas in a system. When connected to an output, the unit can signal a device such as an alarm when the flow is too high, too low, or no flow is present.

How it Works

When flow enters the device, a magnetic piston moves up at the specified calibration point. The magnetic piston actuates a hermetically-sealed reed switch encapsulated within the unit. This decreases the flow below the calibration point causing the reed switch to de-actuate.

Flow meters, flow monitors, and flow switches are similar in that they have the ability to detect the presence or absence of flow and alert the user when the flow reaches the predetermined set point. From there, the unit will perform one of two designated actions: shut off flow or trigger an alarm.

Flow Switch Application Examples

ChemTec’s flow switches serve a variety of industries, including the medical, semiconductor, industrial, microelectric, processing, and metal fabrication industries. Among various others, the top applications for our flow switches include:

  • Analyzers
  • Laser Cooling Systems
  • Bubbler Systems
  • Pollution Sampling Equipment
  • Micro Biomedical Machines

Flow Switch Units We Offer

ChemTec’s adjustable and non-adjustable flow switches specialize in low-flow applications and offer a variety of add-ons including custom material, flow rates, ports, fittings, connectors, seals, and more.

LPH Series

Our LPH Series are non-adjustable flow switches that monitor the flow of corrosive and non-corrosive liquid and gas. The acrylic model offers a visual indication of flow and features a close on/off differential, no seals, and in-line vertical plumbing.

FS Series

The FS Series specializes in the monitoring of higher flow rates of corrosive and non-corrosive liquids. The liquid flow switch is low maintenance and features in-line vertical plumbing and a single moving part.

125 Series

The 125 Series is an adjustable flow monitor that works best for applications with normal flow/set point ratios of 10:1 or greater. The 125 Series also features a broad range of adjustability with minimal pressure drop.

125 BP Series

ChemTec’s 125 BP (by-pass) Series is adjustable, handles either gas or liquid, and is field adjustable to provide customer ease.

CCM Series

The CCM Series is an adjustable flow switch engineered to monitor liquid or gas flow rates in very low flow environments: 10 SCC/M air (1 ML/M liquid) to 16,000 SCC/M (5,000 ML/M liquid).

For low-flow applications, ChemTec offers an extensive line of flow switches to accurately monitor flow and protect your equipment.
