Tell us about how you came into a career in Engineering and how it led you to ChemTec.
I’ve always been mechanically inclined. My family has a background in business and engineering, and working on cars and flying model planes were always hobbies of mine growing up.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Florida Atlantic University, I took on a temporary role at ChemTec as I planned to apply to graduate school. I ended up loving the work and deciding to stay.
You’ve been with ChemTec for 30 years! What has been your most rewarding aspect of the job?
For me, the most rewarding aspect is seeing a project through from design to the final product. When customers come to us with unique requests, it’s a challenge that I enjoy tackling. I love finding solutions that set ChemTec apart from our competitors and being able to meet or exceed clients’ expectations.
What strengths do you bring to your position for a company like ChemTec?
Given my background in mechanical engineering and business, I understand both the technical aspects and the business side of things. This allows me to contribute at every step of the production process. My business software knowledge also helps me to diagnose issues, avoid failures, and streamline our operations.
What about the industry motivates you?
I am motivated by the constant advancements in technology, especially in CNC machining and CAD software, which help us improve unit design. The evolution of sensor technology also excites me. We can now integrate sensors into smaller components, which opens up many new possibilities.
Tell us a little bit about your personal life! What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?
Outside of work, I love doing all types of DIY projects. I enjoy tackling new challenges around the house, from home improvement and car maintenance to painting and tending to my herb garden. My wife and I love to travel together – it’s a great way to meet interesting people from all over the world. Our favorite country we’ve traveled to is Morocco, and we can’t wait to return.
