Heat Sealing is the process of sealing one thermoplastic to another similar thermoplastic using heat and pressure. The direct contact method of heat sealing utilizes a constantly heated die or sealing bar to apply heat to a specific contact area or path to seal thermoplastics together. Heat sealing is used for many applications, including heat seal connectors, thermally activated adhesives, film media, plastic ports and foil sealing.

Ultrasonic Sealing for Snack Bags Saves Material

Ultrasonic seals of metallic foils are peelable starting at widths of 7mm. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the overall amount of the packaging material.  Heat seals typically have a seal width of 15 to 24mm. The percentage of the area of a typical heat seal is approximately 8% to 12% of the package. This can be reduced by 50% when sealing with ultrasonics.

UV Disinfection Systems are an effective way to destroy super bugs in hospitals. Systems use either pulse xenon or mercury vapor lamps. Hospitals prefer xenon as it is a safe, harmless, inert gas while mercury is highly toxic if released.
