Those in California have been doing a great job of reducing their water usage, but there’s still a major shortage. Worldwide, water is becoming a precious commodity, which may seem strange when two thirds of the globe is covered in it.
With supply exceeding demand, producing the silicon panels for photovoltaic (PV) power generation has been an intensely competitive business for several years. There are however reports that a turnaround is underway. Solar industry observers like Greentech Media (GTM) state that with capacity growing only slowly, manufacturers are beginning to see signs of better margins ahead.

Gas producer, Air Products (AP), recently unveiled a solar-powered hydrogen fueling station. Their SmartFuel® technology uses electrolysis to make hydrogen from water, so providing fuel cell vehicles with power that’s truly ‘green.’
Fuel cells, which produce electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen, offer a tantalizing glimpse of an oil-free future. An alternative to carrying heavy batteries, a fuel cell-powered car needs only a supply of hydrogen to generate all the energy it needs.
Every year more and more people voluntarily expose themselves to intense laser light. Lasers surround us at work and home, but they can be dangerous, so why would so many choose to do this? Two reasons: vanity and cost. Laser treatments, usually delivered in a clinic or spa setting, are an effective way of rejuvenating aging or damaged skin. They’re also cheaper than the more invasive alternatives. As a result, the market for these lasers is growing rapidly.

ChemTec will be making a change in the epoxy material which will affect a visual change in the appearance of some products (most noticeably in the LPH Series of flow monitors, see pictures). Please see the accompanying documentation for epoxy specifications. Most products the epoxy change will not be noticeable.
Your company’s reputation depends on how your products perform in-service, and their performance depends on choosing the right material for each component. Use PVC when the application demands stainless steel and you risk failure. Conversely, use stainless when it’s not necessary and you may price your product out of the market.
Now that the hole in the ozone layer is starting to heal, (according to a UNEP press release,) this intriguing molecule has dropped out of the headlines. It’s a pity because ozone’s ability to protect us goes beyond blocking solar ultraviolet radiation.
Ozone (O3) is the three-atom form of oxygen. Whereas the two-atom form is found in the air we breathe, the third atom creates a molecule that reacts with almost everything it touches. That makes it a powerful disinfectant, able to destroy bacteria and other toxins. It also means it’s unstable, quickly breaking down to breathable O2. As a result, there’s no ozone distribution industry as there is for other gases. Instead it must be generated at the place where it’s needed.
